AND WHERE DID THE OUT & ABOUT GROUP END UP ON WEDNESDAY 18 MAY?
The schedule had said Clovelly Visitor Centre and Clovelly Court Gardens, but by popular request this was later changed. We started off from Ilfracombe about 9.30 am and arrived Clovelly Visitor Centre about 10.40. Things there had altered since our last visit some years ago with the pay to go down to the harbour booth positioned right near the entrance and I should have booked us in. However, the nice lady at Reception allowed us into the cafe for refreshment although nobody wanted to walk down to the harbour.

Some of us were content to sit and chat while others investigated the area below the cafe (although quite a few steps down) and visited the extensive sales area and even spent 20 minutes enjoying the film which told us the history of Clovelly and also of Clovelly Court Gardens.

We left at 12 noon having decided to give Clovelly Court Gardens a miss this time as everyone opted to go to Merry Harriers, Woolsery not far away. We spent a pleasant couple of hours there, plenty of time for lunch and for enjoying being outside by the lake admiring the Gnomes.

We left at 2 pm, quite a few of the party with lovely summer bedding plants, getting back to Ilfracombe around 3.15 pm. Another sunny day and trip driven by Eric and enjoyed in good company.
