NICE TO SEE YOU AFTER SUCH A LONG TIME

OUT & ABOUT COMMUNITY MINIBUS OUTINGS – 14 AND 21 JULY 2021

First time out since the start of the pandemic and 18 people joined us on these two occasions and it was lovely to welcome old ‘trippers’ and two new ones. One of our passengers had been shielding for the biggest part of the pandemic and it was great to see her and the others enjoying themselves chatting and catching up on news, even though the weather was so hot. The Mystery trips were to Great Torrington to see the Mayflower on the Common built by Torrington Cavaliers. Sadly, we were too early for a Hockings ice cream. On to 1646 to enjoy the Secret Garden and the Physic Garden – perfume was delightful – and after refreshments in the 1646 café, to admire the extensive view over the valley. The first group returned to The Cedars, Barnstaple for lunch, but the second group went to the Old Station House Inn for theirs. Unfortunately, the Cedars cancelled us on 21 July due to staff shortage but fortunately the Station House Inn was able to accommodate us last minute and we thank them for that. We were back home in Ilfracombe about 2.45 pm.
