RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY!
The first trip of 2022 started with some showers. We set out suitable dressed for Snowdrop Valley. We have not had a trip there for several years and after the recent storms, we wondered how we would find the snowdrops. Fortunately when we arrived at Whidden Cross, the sun came out and stayed with us for the rest of the day. We obtained our permit for the minibus to drive right down to the gate and several of us took a little walk along the path to photograph the lovely show of snowdrops, although needless to say it was very muddy. A number of the group stayed in the minibus to admire the scene through the windows.
We then drove the lanes back to The Rest and Thankful Inn which had been booked for our lunch. We were made very welcome and there was a good choice of menu to suit everyone. Our lunch was served by very pleasant waitresses and very much enjoyed.
We have put a special trip on for Saturday 5 March to go to the Food, Drink and Craft Festival in Torrington. If you would like to come along, ring Shirley on 01271 864882, Minibus charge is £10 return.
Our next scheduled trip is on Wednesday 8 March and will be to Appledore, details as above.
